GLAM Girl is the Global Local Athletic Movement started by three sporty girls (ages 11, 12 and 14) to fight for gender equality, to build leadership through sports, and to engage audiences through film. At home and around the world, GLAM Girl gets girls running, jumping, kicking, playing and scoring--on and off the field.
I love lax, cats and Jaws Bridge jumping!
At the local level, we hold soccer, lacrosse, basketball tournaments, and running events that raise money to provide GLAM GRANTS to underprivileged female athletes (ages 5 to 17) on Cape Cod.
GLAM HEROES FILM SERIES
Nationally and internationally, we find and film GLAM HEROES - role models whose powerful stories inspire action. We love our GLAM HEROES because whenever our goals feel out of reach (like knowing that at the current pace we’re over 100 years away from closing the gender gap, our GLAM HEROES remind us that change is possible.
From a teacher in a tiny village in Afghanistan to a D1 coach or a United States Supreme Court Justice, every woman was once a girl. In our GLAM HERO Film Series, we introduce you to women and girls from all walks of life and from every corner of the globe to capture our tremendous tribe. Their inspiring stories - and the actions they’ve taken to bring about change - are the heart and soul of our GLAM CAMP Leadership Training.
In developing countries, we offer GLAM CAMP, a 3-5 day immersive experience that moves bodies and minds.
We’re the generation that came into the world woke. Yes, we want to save the sea turtles and we don’t leave home without our metal straws. But it’s the way girls are treated - or mistreated - around the world that got us thinking about what we can do. While discriminatory laws and customs try to chip away at girls’ confidence and make it harder for us to achieve our dreams, we’ve found that kicking butt in sports shows us exactly how powerful girls can be.
Plans for our 2020 tournament dates are in progress.
Do you have a smartphone? We’ll hook you up with a GLAM Girl Filming Kit to trick out your smartphone to create powerful visual stories. And we’ll introduce you to a GLAM HERO - near your home or somewhere you’re traveling - for an inspiring interview session that will become part of our GLAM HERO Film Series.
For one week in May, we travel to a developing country for sports fun and leadership training. May 2020 plans in progress!
Help girls on Cape Cod get in the game! It’s hard for low income kids - especially girls - to participate in sports. And we don’t think money should ever prevent girls from enjoying the teamwork, leadership and confidence that come with being an athlete.
